We’ve Reached the Finish Line!

Hello again! Dena and I have completed the Green Map of our school, (Seton Hall University’s), Green! It is entitled ” Seton Hall University’s Trees on the Green: The Other Campus Residents.” The green is central to our campus, complete with many beautiful trees and areas to read, relax, and get to and from classes. We identified these trees, and added information about each one. Our map is a small brochure, with a unique fold-out of a tree! We met with different Ecology professors to ensure the information is correct, and we even joined the Ecology club throughout this whole process! It’s been a lot of work, but a lot more fun getting this Green Map together. The pictures are of the brochure, the first is when it is closed, and the second reveals the tree fold-out and map information. We hope you will enjoy learning about our green! Thank you so much Wendy and all of Green Map Systems!

Here is the brochure in its closed form!

And here is the opened brochure!!!

Continuing My Work at Green Map

Hello, all! This is Jenna, part of the Hoboken Green Map team. I am going to create a new green map of my university’s campus, Seton Hall. I will be using this internship as course credit also, so I will be especially conscious of making this map to the best of my ability. Dena will still help with the environmental information, as that is her specialty, and we will use the same promotional tactics to get our map out there once again!! My design professor will be working with me as well to make sure the map is of sound designย  and form. I cannot wait to start the process again! Thank you, Wendy and the rest of Green Map for allowing me to investigate new outlets of design and work with your organization! See you next month! ๐Ÿ™‚

โ€“ and advisers-

David Kupfer (San Francisco Green Map),

Beth Ferguson (Austin Green Map),

: She’s explaining her work.

Bob Zuber (Spanish Harlem Green Map),

: Created with youth at All Saints RC Church in 1999, many of the “opportunity sites” they discovered have been redeveloped to meet social and community needs

Gottfried Haider (Green Map Volunteer & our photographer),

Tรฉ Baybute (Green Map Design Staff),

Wendy Brawer (Founding Director and NYC Green Map).

Janet Wlody (Kenyon College Green Map) and Janella Peters (Brooklynโ€™s L.E.E.D. to Green) sent us their presentations so we could see their outcomes. Both are linked below. Janella’s is especially detailed and useful!

The virtual interns detailed the mapmaking processes of their Green Maps and showed what they accomplished. The other participants told about their Green Map experiences, and the event was a great exchange. Thank you for all!

+ Here is news about Green Map’s visitors.

Architecture students from Korea University and Clemson University in South Carolina, and David Krieger from Gowanus Canal Community Development Corporation visited Green Map this Monday. They are working on for Gowanus Mapping Project, and they came to our office to know more about green mapping and planning neighborhood relating to sustainability.

They had a Wendyโ€™s great presentation that explained about Green Mapโ€™s mission and vision, and remarkable Green Map projects all over the world. After the presentation, we had an Eco-walking tour of East Village near our office.

This session was for thinking about What is ecological community development and Green Map-making. Especially for Korean students, this was an unique opportunity to know about the Green Map movements and experience green spots like community gardens that are not common in Korea. We expect that it can affect the greener future they will make.

Map Update!

Hi everyone,

Sorry that we completely forgot to post but no worries our map isย  finished! We finished the whole map layout on the design programs. We also typed up a flierย  to help market our map and hopefully get help paying for some of the printing.ย  We plan on handing out the fliers sometime next week, hopefully we get some good feed back!

Sorry once again!

Jenna and Dena!
